Mortgage Loan Processor

Position Summary:

The Mortgage Loan Processor is responsible for processing 1st Mortgage Loan Applications in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner in accordance with the Credit Union’s mandate for regulatory compliance, quality, efficiency and a positive client experience. The incumbent supports the Mortgage Consultants and has direct client interface in their role as liaison in the collection of supporting loan documentation, distribution of regulatory disclosures, file assembly, documentation, issue resolution and other related duties.

Responsibilities:

• Inputs loan application information into automated system
• Collects supporting data from borrower as required for application analysis
• Issues disclosures to the borrower
• Assembles and ensures completeness and accuracy of the loan file
• Reports to the Mortgage Consultant regarding missing information or additional requirements to promote the loan application/funding process
• Performs verifications as required, incorporating thorough due diligence/investigation practices
• Follows-up with borrower as appropriate to obtain missing/additional information and to keep them abreast with the loan status
• Understands the interrelationship of all basic analysis and underwriting factors
• Evaluates borrower qualifications vis-à-vis Credit Union policy and the standards established by the secondary market
• Makes informed and logical loan recommendations to the Mortgage Consultant
• Tracks all loans from inception to funding through daily monitoring of AVISTA (or current automated mortgage system), spreadsheets, and other tracking tools
• Maintains Regulation B log to track and ensure regulatory compliance on all mortgage applications
• Responds to all request in a professional and timely manner, honoring commitments made to the borrower, Mortgage Consultant, other Tech CU personnel and third parties
• Communicates clearly, accurately, regularly and timely with all stake holders in the mortgage loan process including, but not limited to, Mortgage Loan Analyst, Underwriters and Servicing
• Maintains current knowledge of economic trends, the real estate/mortgage industry and Tech CU mortgage loan products
• Complies with:
o Tech CU policies, underwriting guidelines and procedures
o Federal/state laws and regulations governing the mortgage industry, including
rulings and timeframes
• Supports the Mortgage Origination Division in the following:
o Achieving sales and departmental goals
o coordinating with staff on various topics and issues
o Promoting the image and philosophy of Technology Credit Union.

Meets on a monthly basis with manager to discuss goal alignment, performance metrics, and development plans

The employee will comply with all rules and regulations as defined by applicable regulatory agencies. The employee will also adhere to all internal controls and security measures designed to ensure regulatory compliance with State and Federal laws.

Qualifications:

Typically has at minimum:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a related business discipline or equivalent career experience

Experience: At least 5 years of experience in related disciplines, including exposure to mortgage loan products and processing in a financial institution or mortgage brokerage

Knowledge/Skills:
• Self-starter with an understanding of 1st Mortgage loan products, programs, applications, rules, regulations, policies and procedures
• Knowledge of managing mortgage loan applications through an automated system
• Solid analytical, problem resolution and PC skills
• Strong attention to detail, time management, and multitasking abilities
• Solid written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work well in a team environment

Travel: Holds a clear & valid California Drivers’ License. Possess current automobile insurance and is willing to drive one’s own auto to conduct Credit Union business. Applicable IRS mileage reimbursement rate will be provided for credit union approved business travel.


Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit 85% of the day. Keyboard and read computer screen for 90% of time during which one is seated.

Starting Pay Range:

44k-55k
