Ms. Klem will continue expanding the credit union’s
community outreach and government relations programs.
San Jose, CA (August 8, 2013) — Technology Credit Union announced today Janikke Klem has joined its team as vice president of community relationsOpens a new window. In this role, Klem will focus on continuing to develop relationships within the Bay Area for Tech CU’s community outreach program, and she will serve as the company’s government relations’ liaison.
Klem comes to Tech CU from San Jose State University (SJSU) where she served as director of alumni engagement and director of development. She has extensive experience in public affairs, community outreach and fund development — with a focus on building community awareness, increasing philanthropic involvement and collaboration and developing engagement opportunities. Klem has also worked with the California Family Health Council.
“I know Janikke will be a great contributor to our team dynamic,” said Tech CU’s Chief Banking Officer Joe Anzalone. “She has developed an extensive network through her work at San Jose State and other Bay Area organizations. I’m confident she’ll be able to use this to help Tech CU enhance our community and business relationships.”
For the remainder of 2013, Klem will further develop the credit union’s community outreachOpens a new window, which includes continued support of non-profit organizations and programs that focus on education in the areas of innovation, science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). The credit union will also work with organizations that support entrepreneurship and job creation in the Bay Area.
“I’m excited to be joining Tech CU at a time when the credit union is considering creative ways of collaborating with the community to help drive business goals,” said Klem. “There are some great opportunities — especially with universities, colleges and other organizations in the South Bay that are focusing on entrepreneurship and ‘startup’ programs.”
Klem plans to continue working with SJSU’s Alumni Association as a volunteer. Her other community involvement includes serving on the board of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Silicon Valley and the San Jose Leadership Council, as a Board Committee Member at City Lights Theater Company, and as a member of EPIP (Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy). Klem also volunteers for Year Up, Second Harvest Food Bank, InnVision, the Bill Wilson Center and Girls for a Change. She is a member of Rotary Club of San Jose and SPUR (San Francisco Planning and Urban Renewal Association). In 2011, she was named a Salzburg Fellow. Klem is a SJSU alum and holds a Masters in Nonprofit Administration from the University of San Francisco.
